Do I need a projection screen for the projector, or will a white wall suffice?
It depends on the quality of your projector and the smoothness of the wall surface. The smoothness of the wall surface is influenced by various factors such as construction standards and procedures. If your wall is uniformly smooth, it might suffice. However, the paint, color, and texture of the wall surface can affect color reproduction and color gradient performance of the projected image.
What size of projection screen should I buy?
Typically, the size of the projection screen should match the size of the image projected by the projector. You can refer to the following values to determine your viewing distance and screen size:
- 84 inches: Suitable for viewing distances of 2-2.5 meters
- 92 inches: Suitable for viewing distances of 2.5-2.8 meters
- 100 inches: Suitable for viewing distances of 2.8-3 meters
- 110 inches: Suitable for viewing distances of 3-3.5 meters
- 120 inches: Suitable for viewing distances of 3.5-4 meters
- 133 inches: Suitable for viewing distances of 4-5 meters
- 150 inches: Suitable for viewing distances of over 5 meters.
With so many aspect ratios for projection screens, how do I choose?
Projection screens come in four main aspect ratios: 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, and 2.35:1. However, most smart projectors on the market project images in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Therefore, for home use, choosing a 16:9 aspect ratio screen would be ideal as it perfectly matches with the projector's output.
Is a higher screen gain always better?
Gain: Simply put, it refers to the ratio of the brightness reflected from the projection screen to what our eyes perceive compared to the brightness reflected from a white wall, under constant projector brightness and ambient light conditions.
The gain of projection screens typically ranges from 0.6 to 2.0; we usually position the gain of a white wall at 1.
Higher gain screens can concentrate light energy more effectively, resulting in increased brightness. However, they can also restrict the viewing angle. Generally, the higher the gain, the narrower the viewing angle, limiting the optimal viewing position. Thus, higher gain is not always better.
For use in narrow rooms, high gain screens may be suitable. However, in larger spaces or when multiple viewers are present simultaneously, it's advisable to avoid screens with excessively high gain.
In bright environments, ambient light rejecting screens may have lower brightness gain compared to white walls, but they effectively resist ambient light interference, significantly enhancing contrast in the image.
Can I Install the ALR Screen Myself?
Absolutely! You can follow the user manual or watch the installation guide video to do it yourself. Typically, two people can complete the installation in about 1-2 hours.

The screen arrived faster than anticipated, and looks and performs great.
I could not be happier.
The single problem was the instruction booklet that they supply with the screen.
Near impossible to follow with with too few illistrations and no clear instructions to follow.
I previously worked as a technical writer, and I would have gladly produced a proper instruction manual had it not taken me so long to assemble.
With a proper manual the set-up time would be cut by 75 percent.
If I find myself eventually ordering a larger 120 inch screen I'll definitely produce a proper instruction manual and pass it on to Nothing for other customers to take advantage of.
That being said, it was well worth the struggle to assemble.
I would recommend them to anyone.
The screen was delivered in a super-secured package. The set has additional parts so you don't have to worry that you will ran out of screws, springs etc. The assembly isn't that hard but you need to take your time and be precise (I would suggest for the Nothing projector company to make the screens with higher margins- even 1-2cm extra on each side would make the assembly 50% easier)- because you can overstretch one side and lack material in the opposite. If you make this mistake you can correct it but you need to loosen and tighten all of the springs again. The picture quality on the other hand is Superb! Almost no difference in daylight/darkened room. Nothing projector fresnel screen is probably the best price per value screen on the market! The pictures don't give it justice but I'll post them anyway - the colours are spot on in real life, it's just hard take a picture of a fresnel screen with your mobile phone. Honest review - 5+/5!!!
I bought the 100 inch fresnel screen and it's the best ust screen I've owned. I have tried a grey and pet crystal screen before this and both screens had good black levels but the colours were muted and whites were dim. The fresnel screen has great black levels and colours are vibrant.
I have ordered Fscreen 120” Fresnel screen. First of all Nothing Projector service is excellent. I have received the screen in three days. Ordered on Sunday and it was delivered on Wednesday to UAE. Completely pain free. No hidden fees or shipment costs. This is my fourth screen and first Fresnel. The quality of the parts and precision is by far the best I have ever seen. Amazing packaging, no springs (t-screws for tension are used)and corner attachments. Beautiful aluminum pieces and high quality screen material. For those who are struggling to decide Fresnel or not, picture quality is day and night in favor of Fresnel. It doubles the brightness from 0.6 gain screens. Yet the contrast and day time viewing are still way better. Yes the side viewing will suffer and uneven brightness uniformity can be noticed. But I am super happy with the improvements compared to your topical 0.6 gain. I am using Xgimi Aura 2 and for the first time I can see HDR. This is the future of projector screens one way or another. Well done Nothing Projector team for an exceptional service.
Why use a wall - when you can get this!!!!! I have used my projector on the wall, I tried a sheet (NOPE). It's worth the extra money and effort for the screen. The colors and things pop! Looks way better than the wall and not so washed out. THANKS!!!!
